Advanced description
The energy mixture we offer does not come from sources for human sports nutrition. Still, it is a composition of ingredients intended, for example, for intensive nutrition of carnivorous animals or feed supplements for animals. The mixture is also designed for fast muscle glycogen recovery during the high physical activity of dogs. Glycogen consists of a large number of glucose molecules joined to each other by so-called glycosidic bonds. Most glycogen is in the muscles – about 2/3 and then in the liver - about 1/3. Its supply is depleted after about 20 - 40 minutes of exercise, depending on the intensity of the load, while muscle glycogen is used as the first energy source. When glycogen is depleted from the body, muscle proteins and fats are used as a new energy source. Therefore, it is necessary to supply the body with enough glucose and specific free amino acids to prevent the breakdown of muscle fibers during exercise and especially after it – during regeneration.
For every 10 kg of dog's weight / 20 g of energy mixture (heaping spoon = 20 g). At the extreme activity, the dosage can be increased. Nothing happens when you give your dog more of the product; it's just an individual tolerance that you have to test beforehand. Mix with water (approx. 15 ml/kg of dog’s weight, or according to your experience of how much the dog can drink at once), mix, and, if necessary, dilute as needed. It is rather effortless. The mixture dissolves very well, even in cold water. If you have time, let the solution stand for about 5-10 minutes. Psyllium will start to absorb water, and the solution will thicken. You can then dilute it more and thus get your dog to drink more water.
For larger dogs over 40 kg, I do not recommend exceeding the dose of 80 - 100 g too much, as diarrhea can occur. However, it is necessary to try it. Dogs accustomed to a high-energy diet usually do not have any problems with such doses. There is no need to adhere to the exact dosage per gram strictly; instead, add a little more than less. Serve at least 24 hours before exercise / 2-3 times a day, preferably between meals - only as a solution, never as a dry mixture, e.g., during feeding! You can serve the last dose about 40 - 60 minutes before the start.
To effectively replenish glycogen stores, it is essential that the energy mixture is administered within a maximum of 30 minutes after the end of a demanding activity and that the dog has about 2 hours of rest. If the dog continues to work, the energy from the "Kvap nutrition" mixture will be transferred for the body's immediate needs, and no glycogen supply will be created. It is not harmful, but to form glycogen, give the solution again after the activity is completely finished. The dosage is the same as before exercise / 20 g of the energy mixture (heaping spoon = 20 g) / per 10 kg of the dog‘s weight.
It is necessary to test the dog's tolerance to the raw materials used in the mixture! Thus, start with smaller doses and increase them gradually. Also, so that the dog gets used to receiving a solid carbohydrate dose. Not all dogs will respond positively to carbohydrates (maltodextrin, glucose); some may experience intense diarrhea. In this case, stop giving “Kvap Nutrition” to the dog, wait for the digestive tract to calm down, and then try a lower dose. If this does not improve, do not give the dog another dose, it is probably sensitive to some raw material contained in the energy mixture. In that case, try using our protein and fat-based energy supplement, which does not contain any forms of sugars, ………….
It is suitable for all breeds and sizes of adult, healthy dogs without allergies, diabetes, epilepsy, joint disorders, etc. It does not contain gluten-cereal protein or lactose-milk sugar (many dogs are allergic to both substances). The "Kvap nutrition" energy mixture developed by us is designed and tested as a nutritional supplement for dogs in short, high-intensity activity up to approx. 45 minutes, or for leisure activities lasting approx. 90 – 120 minutes (trips) and for their faster recovery or for any type of exhaustion. It helps to quickly increase the supply of glycogen in the body before an activity and promptly restore the supply of muscle glycogen after it. For a long duration intensity of the exercise lasting longer than for about 1 - 1.5 hours, or for the development of muscle and strength of the dog, use a protein mix ………….
Importance of individual raw materials
Maltodextrin
It is a polysaccharide formed by combining molecules of the simple sugar glucose (dextrose). Pure glucose enters the bloodstream very quickly in the body, where it is consumed in the form of so-called blood sugar as a direct energy source for the body's metabolic processes. However, glucose administered in pure form is consumed very quickly, and the body during activity runs out of energy in a relatively short time. However, maltodextrin releases glucose molecules gradually and over a more extended period of time, which prevents fluctuations in blood sugar content, stabilizes its level so that the body has a constant intake of energy, without significant changes at the time when it needs it most. It will drive away the dog's malaise, weakness, and reluctance to continue working. Maltodextrin also significantly improves the use of water in the body - it improves fluid absorption and, at the same time, provides energy for the muscles. It prevents the effect of stomach overflow (heavy stomach) caused by clean water.
Dried eggs
According to current knowledge, especially from Sweden, where mushing is very common (sled dogs and dog sled races), dried eggs are not only a highly digestible and nutritious raw material for the dog but also significant support for the dog's natural immunity under intensive activity and exercise. They support the entire immune system against bacteria causing, for example, diarrhea or whooping cough, etc. They contain, among other things, a high proportion of Lecithin - see more below. What is also important is the increased content of vitamin E, which is vital for its antioxidant effects - it eliminates free radicals produced by high oxygen intake during exercise.
Glucose or Dextrose
Also popularly known as grape sugar. It is the primary and fastest source of energy for all body tissues. As a so-called blood sugar, it supplies the body with energy within a few minutes after ingestion. Pure Glucose is important in bridging the time before Maltodextrin, amino acids, and hydrolyzed proteins take effect.
Proteins
Brewer's yeast, dried eggs, liver, fish protein. They are hydrolysis-modified proteins (shortening of protein chains) from natural raw materials - fish and poultry liver. Hydrolyzed proteins do not cause allergies! Proteins modified in this way have a very high digestibility in the dog's body and do not burden their digestive systems before or during exercise.
Lecithin
It belongs to the so-called phospholipids, which are a component of the outer cell membranes of plants and animals. Lecithin contains a high percentage of unsaturated fatty acids! It is an important component in fat metabolism and utilization, supports proper brain function, and prevents the fat storage in the liver. It supplies energy to the nervous and muscular systems at high loads, thus shortening the regeneration time. In a drink in combination with other suitable ingredients, it also significantly increases its palatability.
Kelp – brown seaweed
A natural source of a tremendous amount of highly usable minerals and vitamins, especially iodine, which is undoubtedly its most signifant benefit in nutrition. It also significantly supports the body's natural immunity - it is a rich source of electrolytes (calcium, magnesium, potassium). It has potent antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral effects, which increase the body's regenerative ability. It supports the immune system and proper calcium metabolism. It also accelerates recovery after high-intensity physical activity. It helps the brain, and its proper function - a stimulant of brain function - increases the dog's desire to complete the race. Kelp is very effective in detoxifying the body and excreting toxins from the body.
Psyllium
It is a finely ground, soluble fiber from the Desert Indian wheat. It binds water very intensively, up to 50 times more than its volume. It helps to hydrate the body significantly, adjusts the environment (pH) of the small and large intestine - solves problems with constipation and diarrhea, facilitates defecation, and is well-tolerated by sensitive dogs. Thanks to the "cleansing" effect on the microvilli of the small intestine, the digestibility of nutrients and their permeability through the intestinal wall into the bloodstream is improved.
BCAA – branched-chained amino acids
A crucial component for the protection of muscle fibers against breakdown and their use as energy sources. It is a mixture of three essential amino acids (hereinafter referred to as AA) of L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-valine in the ratio of 2: 1: 1, which is ideal for mutual use of individual AAs with one another. The need for BCAAs grows very significantly with the demands of physical performance. They are indispensable for the regeneration and recovery of muscles after their excessive activity. It protects protein chains from breakdown into the individual AA and thus muscle fibers. BCAA free amino acids are also important for regeneration by releasing the hormone insulin, allowing more massive use of simple sugars from the blood (glucose).
L-Glutamine
The free amino acid that occurs most frequently in muscles, up to over 60% of all AAs. It is the basic building block of proteins. With a high-intensity performance of the body, the need for Glutamine increases up to five times. Its sufficient presence significantly improves the regeneration of muscle fibers, promotes the production of blood sugar (glucose), and also increases immunity. The rate of regeneration is increased precisely in the interaction of L-Glutamine with BCAA.
Amino NO triplet
This is a relatively new finding in the field of nutritional supplements. It is a complete trio of active substances, free amino acids - L-Arginine, L-Ornithine, and L-Citrulline, which in interaction produce a very important nitric oxide (NO) in the body, which significantly affects blood flow to peripheral tissues, improves vascular patency, thus nutrients distribution to the muscles is much better and thus increases the strength very effectively during exercise. In human medicine, it is used to prevent many other negative influences; see product L + Complex-Technology.
Vitamin C
Even though a dog can produce vitamin C in the body independently, it is only enough to cover the needs of its essential metabolic functions in a quiet lifestyle. However, if the dog is under a slight-intensity activity (e.g., training), the need for vitamin C increases so that its production is no longer sufficient for the dog. At high or extreme performance and strain, the self-production of vitamin C is very insufficient for the dog. It is absolutely necessary for the biosynthesis of collagen and thus for the protection of cartilage and bones. There is a high need for it under stress and at higher workloads. It is a powerful antioxidant and detoxifier.
